I get the same error using Mayavi 3.3.2 on Mac OSX 10.6

Also, mlab.title('text') creates this VTK error:

ERROR: In
/Users/builder/pisi-32bit/tmp/VTK-5.4.2-3/work/VTK/Rendering/vtkOpenGLTexture.cxx,
line 179
vtkOpenGLTexture (0x2653f3d0): No scalar values found for texture input!

Are you applying it to a scene with already data on it?
