Can't get h5py to import

Alan Jackson
I must be doing something stupid, but it is a mystery to me. I
installed the latest EPD about 2 months ago, and everthing has been
fine until today when I tried to import h5py, and it was unable to find
it. Below is what I have tried without success. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: Can't get h5py to import

Jonathan March
Alan,

Have you installed h5py? The Canopy Express installer only includes the free core packages:
with all other packages (including h5py) needing to be installed with enpkg or Package Manager.

You can check this with
enpkg --config
enpkg --list
(With Canopy 1.0 this will, confusingly, only list packages added after installation; that will improve somewhat with 1.1.)

FYI Canopy 1.1 should be released later today, and will provide subscribers with full installers (installing, from the git-go, all packages, just like EPD used to.)

Also, FWIW, note that it should not be necessary (and would usually be inappropriate to include any Canopy/EPD/system directories on PYTHONPATH.

hth,
Jonathan
